Mottoflip When a user submits a verified request to delete their MottoFlip account, account deletion will depend on the user's current status. Incomplete registrations with no active transactions may be deleted immediately. If any lead, payment, pickup, bid, or transaction is pending, the account will be disabled instead of deleted until all activities and retention requirements are completed.
Retention Period
1. Registered Users Without Transactions
Where a user has only registered on MottoFlip but has not created a vehicle lead, participated in bidding, completed a transaction, received payment, uploaded payment proof, or used other transactional services, the user's information may be retained for up to one year from the date of the account-deletion request or the user's last activity, whichever is later.
2. Active or Transactional Users
Where a user has created leads, participated in bidding, purchased or sold a vehicle, received or made payments, uploaded documents, completed vehicle pickup, generated or transferred a Certificate of Deposit, or otherwise used MottoFlip's transactional services, relevant account and transaction information may be retained for up to three years from the date of account closure or completion of the latest transaction, whichever is later.
3. Deletion After the Retention Period
After the applicable retention period expires, personal data will be permanently deleted, securely destroyed, or irreversibly anonymised, unless its continued retention is required under applicable law.
Information That May Be Retained for Longer
MottoFlip may retain limited information beyond the above periods where necessary for:
- Compliance with tax, accounting, KYC, anti-fraud, vehicle-scrappage or other legal requirements;
- Pending payments, withdrawals, wallet balances or settlements;
- Active vehicle leads, bids, pickups or Certificate of Deposit processes;
- Investigation of fraud, misuse or security incidents;
- Pending complaints, disputes, legal proceedings or regulatory enquiries;
- Enforcement of contractual or legal rights; or
- Compliance with an order issued by a court, government authority or law-enforcement agency.
Only the information required for these purposes will be retained. It will not be used for marketing or ordinary commercial activities after account deletion.
Treatment During the Retention Period
During the retention period:
- The deleted account will remain inaccessible to the user;
- Retained information will be placed under restricted access;
- The information will be used only for legal, compliance, audit, fraud-prevention or dispute-resolution purposes; and
- Access will be limited to authorised personnel and service providers.
Important User Notice
Deleting your MottoFlip account does not always result in the immediate deletion of every record. Registered-user information may be retained for up to one year, while information relating to active or transactional users may be retained for up to three years. Certain records may be retained for a longer period where required by applicable law, pending transactions, disputes, fraud prevention or regulatory obligations.
Under India's DPDP framework, personal data should be erased when consent is withdrawn or the specified purpose is no longer being served, unless retention is necessary for compliance with law. The 2025 Rules also require certain personal data and processing logs to be retained for at least one year, subject to other applicable legal requirements.
